As a student in the Nutrition and Dietetics department at Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, I offer 13 courses as a fresh student, while some courses may seem mundane, I have found two courses that truly capture my interest and passion.
Firstly, Introduction to Human Nutrition and Dietetics is one of our core subjects, and it is the course that I enjoy the most. Our lecturer's approach of breaking down complex topics into simpler concepts has proven effective, and the class dynamic is reminiscent of primary school pupils learning for the first time. In our first lecture, we were able to understand the definition of Nutrition, Dietetics, and the role of nutritionists and dietitians in our field.
The second course that I am most interested in is Food Formulation and Organoleptic Evaluation. This course involves the creation of new food products from already existing ones. Though it is a costly and time-consuming process, I have looked forward to each practical session, eager to learn more about the art of food formulation. In my opinion, the Nutrition and Dietetics field is fascinating and offers various specializations that cater to different interests. Personally, I am drawn to three areas: child care, becoming a dietitian, and food formulation - just like my Aunt, who is a dietician with a keen focus on child care. I am passionate about children and anything related to them, and I am equally passionate about food and anything related to its creation. My reasons for pursuing these areas of interest are natural and inevitable, given my genuine enthusiasm for these topics.
Overall, I believe that finding your passion within the Nutrition and Dietetics field is essential to excel in this industry. It is crucial to keep exploring different avenues, attending seminars and networking with professionals, and seeking advice from those with experience in the field. I look forward to continuing my journey in this exciting field.
