FPI isn’t a school of morbid fear that scare away students or make them feel unnecessarily uncomfortable during their stay. In fact no one will challenge you unfairly if you know what you are doing, when you have some measure of self discipline and respect and you know your rights. There are more than enough of provisions in place to make your stay and study easy in FPI. I will mention few:
<•> Affordable handouts/study materials. Study materials you acquire at the Poly Consult is less costlier than anywhere inside/outside the campus.
<•> Conducive lecture rooms with light and ventilating facilities.
<•> E-library with complete decorum and full air conditioning systems to make your study sink down and remain permanent in your brain. (Make sure to use it often).
<•> Shuttles of little or no price. You can buy a semester ticket with less than a Thousand Naira (Shuttles are totally free during exams, you don’t want to miss that).
<•> Bikes to take you in no minute to any angle in the campus with petite amount. You can even pay for someone else’s ride unplanned. Don’t worry someone else will pay yours too unplanned someday.
<•> DSA (Friend of the Students). To guide and rescue you from all forms of abuse. Including threats from Cultists.
<•> Less cumbersome timetable flexible to your course of study. If a lecturer fixes class outside the normal timetable, you have the right to refuse or don’t appear in the class, no one will crucify you. But don’t impose on others and don’t allow yourself to be imposed on.
<•> Student tutorials are made available at virtually all levels for tough courses. Don’t try to miss them, you can even be a tutor, be kind to share what you know.
<•> Experienced and understandable lecturers that delivers academic and moral lectures/lessons. If a lecturer’s appearance commands respect, give the respect.
<•> Hostels and outside homes are not far from classes, you may want to leave early to avoid rushing and lateness to class.
<•> Two Markets are on campus, one to the West and one to the East where you can print, make copies, laminate, eat, relax, charge your devices e.t.c.
<•> There are three banks on campus where you can open accounts, make your payments and cash out. One is just beside the East market. One is relatively close to the main entrance gate, facing the pavilion ground. The last one is strictly for academic collections. It is located at the South East of the campus, also not far from the pavilion ground.
NB:
✍️ You will know which lecturer will keep you outside for two hours or more and still not allow you sign attendance for coming late when you gain your admission.
✍️ You are not subjected to buying study materials as common in other institutions, in fact if any lecturer is found imposing such there are solid penalties for it. (But your first test can come from the first and middle page of that handout). Be wise.
✍️ If you don’t understand the behavior of a lecturer you are free to report to DSA but you should seek better advice before doing so, so you don’t end up curving yourself.
